Lithology & Fluid Prediction from Seismic Ltd. On-Line
is a:
- A "high-tech" geophysical company focusing on
practical technologies to help map rock property and pore fill
variations from seismic data.
- LFP techniques are applicable at all stages of development
from exploration to production

About LFP:
"The way we get hydrocarbons out of the ground is changing".
Consider the following scenario:
- Your company is reducing professional staff levels, you only
have time to manage projects.
- You are now the geologist, petrophysicist, geophysicist, and
the digitiser.
- You see a proliferation in the number of good quality UNIX
and PC based packages but don't know how to get the most out of
them.
- You are still expected to produce the same quality of work
but with fewer staff.
How can LFP help?
LFP will help you with your geophysics and, through its network
of associated companies, provide you with multi-disciplinary expert
services. If you want, we will manage part of the project for
you AS IF WE WERE ONE COMPANY.
LFP and its network wants to be seen as a realistic and practical
extension of your own resources that can be readily accessed when
YOU want.
LFP Services
- Geophysical Data Inventory
- To work out what you have got and what you need to do the
job.
- Petrophysical log evaluation
- To ensure your logs are of the appropriate quality for seismic
calibration. Also to define values of your desired rock property
(e.g. porosity, mineralogy, shale volume etc.)
- Rock Property Analysis
- To establish which seismic rock properties will best map your
desired rock property.
- Velocity analysis
-
- Seismic amplitude analysis
-
- Pre Stack:
- AVO detection and modelling, well calibration, fluid
replacement modelling.
- Post Stack(2D and 3D):
- Seismic attribute analysis, tuning analysis, acoustic impedance
inversion, well calibration.
- Image analysis
- To help visualise reservoir heterogeneities. Techniques include:
IHS analysis, Geovisualisation, Dip, Azimuth and Attitude plots.
- Geostatisical analysis
- To help quantify uncertainties: Examples include, Kriging
and Cokriging, Simulation, Error Propagation Analysis.
Technical Transfer Techniques
LFP has considerable experience in defining practical ways of
transferring new technologies to a large petroscience community.
These include the use of :
- One page "flyers"
- Technical journalism - Booklets
- Multimedia technology
- Workshops
- Posters
LFP would be happy to demonstrate any of the above as part of
the documentation of any project done.
LFP with its associated companies have accumulated a number of
databases.
For example:
- Carbonate Reservoirs
- Seismic rock properties databases:
- Typically from SCAL core measurements.
- Complete geological, petrophysical and seismic description
of carbonate reservoirs.
- Field databases:
- Typically one entry per field of data ranging from core description
to production.

The Good LFP Guide
A living electronic hyperlinked document that will raise a company's
general understanding of the uses and limitations of geophysical
techniques like Acoustic Impedance, AVO , Velocity analysis, Attribute
Anlysis etc.. It is presently a condensation of 30 man years of
research and is aimed at the general geoscientist and so will
have company wide appeal.
The Seismic Toolbox
To be developed by the end of 1996, it will provide:
- A graphical interface to input seismic, map and log data.
- Display for quality control.
- "Plug-ins" to manipulate the data. Example plus-ins
would be, windowed seismic attribute generation, seismic compression,
cutting edge transformation algorithms. Plug-ins will be very
simple to install and could be altered to clients specific requirements
at very short notice.
- Output of data in standard formats to be imported into conventional
geooscience packages.
