Mr. Safford possesses career experience that uniquely qualifies him for his position and responsibilities with ASI. He has been actively involved in the specialty architectural market for over ten years, and has worked with all of the major U.S. space frame companies. In addition to a full spectrum of executive and management responsibilities, Safford has had profit and loss responsibility on numerous national and international design-build projects. He has acted as structural engineer on many complex space frame structures, and as site engineer on a major international project in the Middle East. Mr. Safford was an executive level participant in the entry into the U.S. market of Mero Corporation, a West German space frame company. As Vice President of Sales for Mero Structures, he was responsible for bringing the start-up company into a leadership position in the U.S. market, generating $9 million in profitable sales in the company's fifth year. This diverse experience base has provided him with a powerful perspective and working knowledge of the specialty structures marketplace in the U.S. and abroad.
Mr. Safford's strong technical background has proven ideal for his role in sales, providing him entry into the world's leading architectural, engineering, and development firms. He has participated as a key contributor in some of the most sophisticated space enclosure structures ever constructed, including the successful realization of a new structural tension truss system for the Montreal Museum of Art. Safford worked with Moshe Safdie & Associates on this AIA award winning project. He also maintains ongoing interaction with NASA and other aerospace subcontractors regarding potential building systems for orbital and extraterrestrial application.
Franz Safford holds a combined bachelor of science degree in architecture and engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
