Mr. Griffin contributes the highest level of engineering capability to the ASI team, and combines this with superior, proven management skills to effectively lead the company's engineering group. This team, under Griffin's leadership, has been responsible for the design and engineering of some of the world's most sophisticated space frame structures. Griffin spent sixteen years with IMODCO Inc., a company serving the petroleum industry, specializing in offshore mechanical and structural systems. As Director of Engineering, he was responsible for engineering operations, project bidding, and ongoing value engineering of the company's products. His work involved technical presentations and seminars world wide. He also acted as Project Engineer on a number of sophisticated programs, including the Santa Ynez Terminal, offshore Santa Barbara, California. This terminal serviced a permanently moored tanker in 490 feet of water. Exxon was the client.
His project engineering responsibilities have included the design and documentation of structural and mechanical components for marine environment application using AISC, ABS and AWS codes. He has also designed pressure vessels and piping systems per ASME and API requirements for crude oil, gas and seawater systems.
Mr. Griffin has acted as the Engineer of Record on numerous sophisticated space frame projects. He is an expert in the application of UBC, BOCA, ANSI, and ACI standards. His work included the design of cast-in-place, precast, and CMU footings and supports.
Mr. Griffin has developed standards engineering systems and automated these systems to expedite the design and documentation process. He has created standard calculation templates using spread sheet technology, and developed data base systems to track project statistics and facilitate scheduling and project management at ASI.
Mike Griffin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California, with an emphasis in advanced steel structures and management. He is a professional engineer licensed in many states, and is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
