VR-Viz, formally known as VR-Tools, was developed by LinCom Corporation in cooperation with NASA and the VETL (Virtual Environment Technology Lab). The VETL has created a powerful suite of software tools that allow the importation of a large number of data formats and three-dimensional objects. These tools enable non-programmers to organize objects and data hierarchically and create multisensory, three-dimensional environments linked to specific hardware. Intrinsic to this software infrastructure is high performance rendering of surfaces and volumes, synchronization of multiple displays (visual, auditory, and haptic), and direct integration of third-party software, including simulations. VR-Viz is an operating system and navigation environment for virtual visualization. WVS has designed and is developing software which enhances VR-Viz by improving navigation, data manipulation, and data integration. Working jointly with the VETL since 1990, E&P oriented demonstrations have been deevloped, see brochure.
