Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me."
John 5:39
Scriptures/Data
Hopefully, some of the insignts found in
55+ years of
living, shared here with candor and simplicity, will help some of you in your
personal reconciliation of the science - religion matrix. Each concept presented in this book is based on scriptures and on data. Ever since Adam was commanded by God to keep a Book of Remembrance,1.9 and certainly since Moses wrote the record of his experiences (The Pentateuch or first five books of the Old Testament), the scriptures have been the iron rod, or the word of God,1.10 which the faithful have held onto. Those who have followed these teachings, with the faith and the hope embodied therein, come to believe this path will lead them, and hopefully each of us, home to God.
Despite the two references in the previous paragraph, for the most part, the scriptural references used in this book are from The King James translation of The Holy Bible. Because I am writing to a larger audience than members of my church, it seems appropriate to stress I believe the words of the Prophet Moses and the Apostle John concerning not adding to nor deleting from their writings:
"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
Deuteronomy 4:2
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,
and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
Revelations 22:18-19
Neither this book, nor the scriptures of other religions quoted in this book add to,
nor diminish, nor take away from the writings of Moses, nor from the writings of John the Revelator. My approach,
driven my my scientific background, is to use all valid data from all possible sources. Where there are specific
additional insights from other books of scripture they are referenced. Because our greatest spiritual influence
comes from those we regularly worship with, the scriptures I will quote from most often - besides The Holy Bible -
are the other scriptures adopted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS).
