Dear Classmates,

This reunion is going to be really fun and I am excited to see you all again, especially since I missed the last reunion. This web page was a great idea and it is fun and heartwarming to read about each of you as your updated information is posted. When your kids tell you that you are an "old foggy" you can show them the web page and prove to them that we are up with new technology and can use it.

As most of you know, I married Jim Baird and we will celebrate our 34th Anniversary this September. We have four children:

During the years since high school I have been a Dental Assistant (3 yrs.), Mother (31 yrs. and counting), Substitute Teacher (6 1/2 yrs.), Career and Scholarship Advisor (4 1/2 yrs.), and for the last five years an Executive Assistant at Ivie Technologies, a company that develops and sells professional audio support equipment.

Jim and I are people like your next-door neighbor who have served in church and community on an on-going basis for our whole adult lives.

I love gardening, quilting and time with the grandchildren. Being a grandparent is the best!

Meanwhile here are a few things I have discovered since high school graduation:

You will look more and more like your parents. Even your excellent 18 year-old body will go South on you. Wrinkles and rolls are attractive! Especially after 50. You too will look over your glasses to see those across the room. You will look through the lower part of your lenses to read, or you will have your spouse or grandchildren hold the paper from across the room for your reading convenience. Entering the next room results in you forgetting why you are there. College students look like they should be in Junior High. Going gray or bald or both is inevitable. Life is a kick, usually a kick in the pants. Arthritis means not being able to open child-proof caps. Being young at heart refers to your enthusiasm, not the condition of your health. Happiness is a choice. Losing loved ones is hard. Peace is not a world condition, but a place in your own heart. Chemistry is still a hard subject. Insights from a 4 year-old grandchild are eye-opening. Life's too short to be cranky. Some things have to be learned again and again. Nobody's perfect. Your 401(k) investments can lose value. Success or Failure depends on your viewpoint. The USA is and always will be the best place on earth!
