The Oilman's Creed

The oil business is an uncertain and expensive business.
Capital Requirements are high.
Operating Requirements are high.
When you succeed, the Rewards are high.
When you fail, the Penalty is catastrophic.
In the Niger-Delta, God is Kind and Hospitable.
The Reservoirs in the subsurface are as heterogeneous as the populations on the surface.
Despite these inherent heterogeneities, the Reservoirs still exist in a state of thermodynamic and static equilibrium.
The Oils are sweet and good enough to drive with. However, a few can go to sleep rather easily (waxy).
Some mix easily with water to foam and emulsify and in the end give oilmen significant headaches.
"Value" is only created when the Oilman can pay his bills and still have some left to invest in the next well before he goes looking for another opportunity.
The Niger Delta mermaids love Oilmen and can give them big Reservoirs to produce or small ones (Marginal) to play with.
Either way, this business is Risky and Expensive.
