Saudi Aramco has started a 10-year project to automate
each stage of the E & P process:
• Design new surveys based on holes in the data bases.
• Collect 3-D seismic every six months over existing
surveys to monitor fluid movement.
• Adjust production based on water/hydrocarbon boundary
locations.
• Optimize the methods of transporting fluids to refineries
or shipping terminals.
• Run reservoir simulators with parameters that are automatically
derived from seismic and production data.
