I read with great interest all of the rebuttals in the latest AAPG EXPLORER to
Andrew Miall's opinion piece about evolution. Supposedly written by scientists who
understand the scientific method, these rebuttals wern on at great length about
how science is based on repeatable experiments that demonstrate observable
phenomenon, yet all failed to mention the one fundamental truth about intelligent
design and other non-evolution based theories of how this planet got to where it
is now (e.g. the Bible).
None of these other theories are based on anything that is observable or testable.
There is no experiment that will demonstrate that the world was created by a "god,"
(and) there is no experiment that demonstrates han "intelligent design" to some parts
of the natural world. Evolution has been demonstrated in the lab and the natural world
repeatedl and on various scales (e.g. from bacteria, to moths, to plants, to fossils).
This is real, this is repeatable, this is science.
Intelligent design and the Bible necessarily require faith in something that
cannot be tested as a strating point, and this is not science.
