Dear Art Lover,
On Saturday evening, April 1, ART IN THE WILDFLOWERS, an exhibition of beautiful original paintings will be shown at The Falls Golf Club and Resort in New Ulm, Texas. The paintings for this special show are being selected by Donna Petrovic, the Director of N. Mirkovich Art Gallery in Houston. There will be a Silent Auction of these works during the evening, the purpose of which is to raise funds for Scholarships for young artists in Texas High Schools and colleges.
We invite you to be present for this lovely Spring evening of ART IN THE WILDFLOWERS. The evening will begin with a viewing of the exhibition and a Wine Tasting at 5 PM. Texas Wines will be featured and Vince Baker, the Wine Somolier for Houston's famous "Rotisserie for Beef and Bird," will be on hand to answer questions about the wines he has chosen for the occasion. This will be followed at 7 PM with a fine dinner prepared by the Chef at The Falls, Wade Schindler. He is creating a menu of peppered baby beef, smoked loin of pork, and split-spit roasted quail with wild rice pilaf and fresh spring vegetables. With a wonderful appetizer of country venison crepes, a salad, and a dessert of hot French apple tarts with cinnamon ice cream, it promises to be a memorable evening for the palette as well. Announcing the results of the Silent Auction will only add to the pleasures of the night. Adding to the ambience of this occasion, Lucien Lemieux will be performing favored classics on the piano.
April 1st is also the opening day of The New Ulm Art Festival, a month long celebration of the arts on weekends in April. We suggest coming out to the country in the afternooon to enjoy the Bluebonnets and view the Art Exhibitions at several venues in New Ulm before going over to The Falls Golf Club and Resort for the Reception and Wine Tasting at 5 PM.
Reservations for the ART IN THE WILDFLOWERS evening ar $75.00 per person. We encourage you to return the enclosed form or call 409.992.3337 early, as there are only 175 seats for this wonderful dinner and worthy cause of helping young artists. Reservations should be received by March 15th.
We have invited young painters at 82 Colleges and Universities across the State of Texs to compete for the Scholarships to be awarded at The New Ulm Art Festival. The funds raised from the ART IN THE WILDFLOWERS exhibition will add to the number of Scholarships awarded. A 25% portion of the Sales from the Silent Auction and the proceeds from the Dinner are for this purpose. The most prestigious award will be The Lajos Markos Art Foundation $5000 Study in Europe Scholarship. This will enable the winning young artist interested in pursuing a career as a traditional, representational painter to learn firsthand from the Masters in the Great Museums on the Continent.
In addition to the College Scholarships, we have invited younger artists from 19 High Schools and 22 Junior High Schools within a 35 mile radius of New Ulm to compete for Scholarships and Prizes that will enhance their education and encourage them to pursue their goals as artists.
We are very excited about the ART IN THE WILDFLOWERS Exhibition, Silent Auction, and Dinner on April 1st. It serves as a wonderful way to end the opening day of our first New Ulm Art Festival. We hope you will plan to spend the afternoon and evening of the first Saturday in April enjoying the wildflowers in the region and the art in New Ulm.
Please let us hear from you, and then come out for a fine day in the country with wildflowers, art, and an evening of gracious dining at The Falls.
