This morning there was no hesitation, just: "Hold the line." Then Sara came on, and said she was sorry. She is getting ready to travel with one of her friends and their family tomorrow. I asked if this is who she was traveling with a few weeks ago, and she said, "That was Stephanie and this is Jennifer. She is my best friend in country." Evidently she is at the same lattitude, but across the country. Jen's family comes in tonight, and today they are just getting ready to travel. Tomrrow going to Gambia, a village built totally over the water. Told her to take a lot of photos. Then going to one of the most touristy place Bassila, which is where Jennifer lives. Only place in in the world the language "Ani" is spoken. Then Andrea came on line. Sara said very excited to go to Audrey's wedding. Expects to get to Houston on April 2nd. Doesn't havn't have the tickets. Wants to see Melanie. Roice, Sarah, and Mary are probably coming to visit. We will try to get the day right this time (refering to Paul's homecoming). Jen speaks the Ani language. Only place in the world that speaks this language. Will be there on Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday going to Bakoumbe to go see the mud huts. These are 2 story mud huts. Very well built. Different than the rest of Benin. Then go to the national park to see elephants and lions. Only see one or the other because they hide from each other. Sara wants to see the elephants. Then going to a volunteer meeting with all of the volunteers. New leader was in Micronesia before. She should come from to Save Monday night or Tuesday morning to do the adnimistrative and medical stuff. Should be in Contoneau by noon, because she is renting a taxi to bring all of her stuff. So we call on the 29th. Told Sara that her old boss Stephen Alverez at Texas Independent has cancer. Then she asked: "How is everybody?" And I went through the list of 10. During the conversation it came up that I'm going back to China soon, and that I wasn't able to take Rachel this week, while she was on Spring Break. I said, maybe you could go with me, and maybe Sarah Nemec could join us? She said, "The conversation is started." She is looking forward to being home in two weeks. |
