. . . An Introduction to the IRAS Image Management System

Christian Singfield has spent the last 8 years developing the state-of-the-art system for

• core and cutting data acquistion (IRASCapture),
• processing (IRASProcessing and IRASNet), and
• interpretation (IRASDataMine).

The purpose of this page is simply to demonstrate the depth of work that has been done, and to state the information server associated with this project will provide the AAPG and Petris with the best way to distribute the terrabytes and even pedabytes of raster legacy data to individuals and companies that is available in AAPG archives.

In terms of this example for the propsed AAPG Project at Petris, the following pages have been prepared, showing images from:

• Cuttings
• Cores
• minerals
• air-photo
• x-ray

It is important to stress that the image server (IRASNet) allows images to be displayed, panned, and zoomed from a terrabyte or pedabye server across the Internet. These images can be measured, and they are accurate digital color captures of the original data.
