The NLDN consists of about 330 sensors in the continental United States. Thre are similar networks in Canada, the Canadian Lightning Detection Network (CLDN), in Europe, Brazil, and many places around the world. There are 11 sensors in the state of Texas and 2 sensors in the State of Utah. Key is to remember these sensors are measuring electromagnetic waves travelling at the speed of light. There are 15 years of historical in the NLDN, which is owned and updated by Vaisala, Inc. of Finland. Internationally they have 3+ years of data colleced as the GLD 360. The GLD 360 records peak current, and does not record Rise-Time nore Peak-to-Zero time. Dynamic Measurement has an exclusive license to use these databases for natural resource exploration.
