Not only do workstations allow you to bring up any arbitrary cross-section through a 3-D seismic volume, they have automatic horizon picking tools like ZAP (the Zoned Auto-Picker), which was used to take the seed horizon picks on the map on the previous slide and create this map in just a few minutes. To pick the horizon and map the subsurface topography on every line on this small 3-D seismic survey takes about a week. ZAP is instantaneous by comparison, and any errors are relatively easily edited. (Seed Horizon Picks and Extracted Seismic Attribute)
