Happy Holidays,
We are trying to keep up with the bustle of Christmas, finals and sicknesses. Here's the latest update . . .
This is Grant's 3rd Christmas, but the first one that I think he will remember so we decided to get a tree. For the first few days, Grant would run out in the morning to turn on the lights and we would keep them on until Grant went to bed. I put candy canes as decorations and Grant has been pretty good about leaving them on the tree. Every time he says 'nanny' (candy) and begins taking one off, I tell him that they are supposed to remind us about the shepherd's crooks and to leave them on. Now Grant calls them 'shepherds'. Grant also enjoys hanging one ornament on our little tree calendar (thanks to Great Aunt Sara) each day. However, he always wants to hang up more than one at a time.
We visited Santa Clause at our ward Christmas party a few days ago, but Grant wasn't too impressed. I even bribed him by telling him that Santa would give him candy. But, when the moment arrived, he just cried - tears streaming down his cheeks. Poor guy.
Grant is staying in nursery now and it has done wonders to his shy personality. When we go to play group or story time at the library, he is content to go and play with the other kids instead of holding my hand the whole time. Whenever I lay him down to go to sleep, I tell him a story about his day. Sometimes I leave parts out and he will often remind me. That baby is so smart. He also repeats most things I say. For example, I sometimes use expression-type words like, "pooh, crappy, or shivers" and Grant likes to say them after me - over and over again. I need to watch better what I say.
Sometimes my mom will leave messages for Grant on the answering machine and he loves it. He listened to the last one 20 times in a row and kept trying to give the answering machine 'lovies' and kisses. And then when he heard me telling Paul about it in the morning, he ran back over and listened to it another 20 times.
Well that is all for now.
Love,
Kate, Paul and Grant
