SUMMARY
I am a petroleum geoscientist having more than 100 wells drilled and 15 years prospecting experience. I spent 12 years as a geologist for Marathon Oil Company, and 3 years since then consulting for several
Independents. My 7 years in Midland TX include redevelopment and waterflood programs in the San Andres, Queen, Delaware, and Penn Lime formations, and exploration programs in various Permian,
Devonian, Ellenburger, Morrow, Fusselman, Penn Lime, and Wolfcamp deepwater plays. In the Gulf Coast, I have prospected in the Flex Trend and the Miocene, and worked development projects around
Pliocene salt domes and Pleistocene anticlines. I have generated integrated 3-D seismic/subsurface field studies and prospect maps. In the process, I have designed VSPs, Salt Proximity surveys, and
geophysical models. Yet, mostly I am known for finding subtle pay zones in well logs and creating prospects in previously overlooked zones. I have also worked the Cretaceous in East Texas, and several
Cenozoic trends onshore in TX and LA.
I have worked in PC and Digital Vax environments and have prospected using Geographix/SeisVision, the SMT Kingdom Suite, ZYCOR, and an Eclipse simulator. Most recently, I have been applying my
Paleozoic knowledge in an exploration program in Paraguay. In a five-person team at EarthView Associates, I generated the play concepts and identified a previously overlooked Delaware sand analogue that
cored oil. I aided in computer basin modeling and wrote most of the technical report. Currently, we are designing a 2000 km seismic program.
EXPERIENCE
- Geological Consultant; April 1997 to Present.
- Exploration Geological Consultant: Current Position.
- Under contract to EarthView Associates. Refining exploration model for Paraguay concession. Categorized source rock data and provided subsurface correlations for reflection seismic reprocessing and integrated
stratigraphic/structural interpretation. Defined likely reservoir facies and play concepts. Constructed computer basin model. Currently planning seismic acquisition program.
- Exploitation Geological Consultant: January 1998 to April 1998.
- Under contract to Adair International, through EarthView Associates. Recommended drilling locations in onshore TX Gulf Coast fields, East TX carbonate reservoirs. Mapped satellite elevation data for
exploration in Paraguay.
- Reservoir Modeling Geological Consultant; December 1997 to January 1998.
- Under contract to Valenti Engineering Services, Inc. through Seis-Strat Services. Developed depositional model and vertical zoning of retrograde condensate reservoir in downdip Yegua trend; and net pay,
net/gross sand, permeability maps in Eclipse simulator. Helped to win disputed court case.
- Petroleum Geoscience Consultant; April 1997 to December 1997.
- Under contract to HarCor Energy, Inc. through EarthView Associates. Duties included: wildcat exploration using AVO analysis in TX Central Gulf Coast; deeper-pool and step-out prospecting on a 3-D
seismic project in Terrebonne Parish, LA; Data Room sales presentations for properties in West TX and onshore LA and TX Gulf Coast; and evaluating other firmsí properties and exploration proposals.
Stayed until company was sold.
- Princess Petroleum Corporation: May 1998 to October 1998.
- Vice President, Geology: Sugarland Texas.
- Geologist in attempted start-up of publicly-held oil and gas production firm. Conducted field studies in East Texas carbonates and Woodbine; South TX carbonates; Gulf Coast Yegua and Miocene.
Proposed drilling locations. Made sales presentations to potential investors.
- Marathon Oil Company: July 1981 to May 1994.
- Exploitation Geologist: June 1987 to May 1994, Midland TX.
- Helped bring on more than 1 MMBOE per year in 86 wells in Permian and San Juan Basins. Generated multi-well programs in Grayburg/San Andres, Penn Lime, Queen Sand, Ellenburger, Spraberry,
Morrow, and other formations. Helped design waterfloods, reservoir simulations, horizontal drilling, seismic and logging programs. Testified at NMOCD and TRRC hearings a dozen times. Supervised
logging.
- Offshore Development Geologist: February 1984 to May 1987, Layfayette LA.
- Built integrated field studies in offshore LA Pliocene oil trend, and offshore TX Pleistocene gas trend. Found new pays in low-resistivity sands. Designed and analyzed salt proximity surveys. Used
geochemistry to develop deeper pool prospects. Supervised logging.
- Offshore Exploration Geologist: June 1982 to January 1984, Houston, TX.
- Conducted seismic stratigraphic studies in Offshore LA Pliocene oil trend, and offshore TX Miocene gas trend. Generated outpost drilling locations and integrated prospect maps for lease sales. Supervised
logging.
- Summer Intern Geophysicist: July 1981 to August 1981, Houston, TX.
- Mapped buried submarine canyons using reflection seismic data on offshore LA OCS acreage.
