Called Sara at 5:00 AM. The lady answered the phone with "OK, hold the line." Then the music came on which reminds me of Windsor Castle and Queen Elizabeth I. Then Sara came on the phone for the last time as part of her Peace Corps tour in Benin. She was watching Indiana Jones, and waiting for food. It was the one with Marian in it, which ever one that is. She got her ticket this morning. She arrives at Intercontinental at 4:30 PM on Saturday. Not sure of the airline, and thinks it is Continental. She will sned an e-mail and let Marti, Melanie, and Roice know also. I told her I have the tickets to China. "This is huge, exciting news!" She assured me she is really healthy right now and so there will be no problem health wise going into China. Also, they did a very thorough physical 3 months ago, and they will repeat it this week. "I didn't even have any amoebia's!" was her comment concerning health issues and China. She did not get to see any lions or elephants when they went to the park. They got there early and paid the guide a huge amount (US$10, which is a lot of money in Benin), and he drove in on a main road and back out on a main road. "He did not even go to a watering hole or anything!" And Jen's parents were really tired, so they did not go back out the next day. Her parents said they could go to a zoo and see them. The important thing to Sara Ellyn was she got to meet her best friend, Jennider, in country's parents and sister. Told her about eating at Menke's new restaurant and about canoeing. We also talked a little about gifts and about Rob, whom she is worried about. She was hungary and wanted to go look for the food she ordered an hour and a half ago, and so that was the last conversation to Benin while Sara Ellyn is in the Peace Corps. Sara, I am very proud of you, and was touched by your willingness to sleep on a matt on the floor in China. |
